What is a co-parenting app?
When parents live in different homes, information about the kids tends to get scattered across personal chats, emails, notes and each parent's memory. A co-parenting app separates that coordination from your private life: it's a space dedicated to the children, organized by topic, with history and dates, where both parents see the same information.
Unlike a generic chat, a co-parenting app is built for specific tasks: knowing who the kids are with each day, proposing a weekend swap, splitting a school expense or sharing the pediatrician's instructions without digging through hundreds of messages.
How Family Bridge works, step by step
- Create your account in the iPhone app or the web app with email and password (on iPhone, also with Sign in with Apple). It's the same account on both.
- Add your child's profile: medical details, allergies, medications, school and emergency contacts.
- Invite the other parent by email or by sharing the child's 6-digit code. Invitations are unlimited on the free plan.
- Set up custody with a predefined pattern (alternating weeks, 2-2-3, 5-2-2-5, 3-4-4-3, weekdays/weekends or every other day) and add important events to the shared calendar.
- Communicate by topic: conversations by child and by topic (general, medical, school, activities, schedules, expenses, emergency), with read receipts.
- Log expenses and choose how to split them (50/50, custom percentage or full amount); the other parent approves or rejects them and the app shows the balance between you.
Who is it for?
- Separated or divorced parents who share parenting, with shared custody or a visitation schedule.
- Families where direct communication creates tension and a neutral, organized, child-focused channel helps.
- Parents who live in different cities or countries and need a clear calendar and expense record.
- Spanish-speaking or multilingual families: each parent can use the app in their own language (Spanish, English, Portuguese or French).
Free plan vs. Family Bridge Pro
The free plan is free forever and includes unlimited text messaging between parents, 1 child, up to 20 calendar events and 10 expenses per month, up to 3 documents and 3 safe exchange locations, predefined custody patterns, the community, and every response action (approving expenses, confirming payments, accepting exchanges, responding to events).
Family Bridge Pro costs US$5.99 per month (3-day free trial) or US$39.99 per year (7-day free trial); pricing may vary by country. It adds unlimited children, events, expenses and documents, chat attachments, the FamilyBot AI assistant, PDF export, calendar sync, GPS-tracked exchanges and the full financial dashboard. More details on pricing.
If only one parent pays for Pro, the other can keep using the free plan and respond to everything that's shared with them.
Tips to get off to a good start
- Agree from the start which topics go through the app and which don't, so no one feels the channel intrudes on their private life.
- Use the right topic for each conversation (medical, school, expenses) so you can find everything quickly later.
- Keep messages short, specific and focused on the kids. If a message comes out angry, wait before sending it.
- Set up the custody pattern and the year's fixed dates first; one-off changes can be proposed later.
- Check the help center and the blog for guides on every feature.
